Pregnancy is a very special time in the life of a family and an expectant mother. In hindsight, it’s easy to forget how big your belly was—and how tiny your baby once was. A professional photoshoot gives you the chance to capture your anticipation and this unforgettable time. To help you start your shoot as relaxed as possible, studioline has some insider tips for you.
Tips for your photoshoot
1. The right time
With baby bump: You carry your little explorer inside you for nine months. At some point, when your baby is no longer quite so small and has gained weight and size, many things can become incredibly exhausting. Studioline’s advice is therefore: schedule your shoot between the 30th and 36th week of pregnancy. During this time, your belly is beautifully rounded but hasn’t dropped yet, and you’ll likely still feel more mobile.

With a newborn: The first weeks are a magical time for the whole family. Your baby is developing incredibly quickly. That’s why, if health permits, it’s best to schedule a newborn photoshoot as soon as possible after birth. In general, studioline recommends the first 10 to 14 days for your first time in front of the camera together.
With baby and family: Is your baby about six months old? Perfect! It’s a great time for family photos. Your little explorer is now alert, showing emotions, and easily excited. The biggest advantage, however, is that your baby isn’t mobile yet—so the basic conditions for a relaxed shoot are in place. ;)
2. The appropriate clothing
Basically: you should feel comfortable. If you want photos in underwear or with a bare belly, it’s best to wear loose clothing beforehand so it doesn’t leave marks on your skin. In general, anything that shows off your bump works well—whether it’s a dress, fitted clothing, or casual jeans and a T-shirt. The choice is yours. Just make sure none of the pieces have small patterns, as these can create visual distortions in photos. If you’re capturing your newest miracle as a family, your photos will look more harmonious when you coordinate your outfits by color.
3. The perfect make-up
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wearing your usual daily makeup. On the day of the shoot, though, you can go a little heavier, as the flash can “swallow” some of it.
It’s also important for all adults to powder themselves right before the shoot. This prevents unwanted shine and improves the look of the skin. Don’t worry if you don’t have powder with you: studioline is well equipped and will be happy to powder you on site.
4. Personal accessories
Baby and newborn: Do you have a pacifier chain handcrafted by the godparents or a beautiful ultrasound picture? Then be sure to bring these small accessories along. This way, you can make your photos even more personal and include these little details in future shoots, too. It also ensures that meaningful keepsakes are part of your family album from the very beginning.
Baby and Family: Does each family member have their own hobby? Feel free to bring accessories that highlight this part of your personality—whether it’s a skateboard, a favorite teddy bear, or a soccer ball. Anything you can wear is welcome.
5. Your image presentation
Do some research beforehand if you’d like to recreate a specific motif. Feel free to get inspired online and create a small gallery of image ideas. You can share these with your photographer before the shoot. Prefer to go into the shoot with an open mind? That’s no problem either: the trained studioline photographers are full of creative ideas to showcase you perfectly.
