What is a baby shower?
This English expression refers to a celebration organized in honor of the expectant mother. The tradition comes from the United States, where this kind of party has long been a staple. The expectant mother usually celebrates her baby shower between the 7th and 8th months of pregnancy. A baby shower typically includes pregnancy- and birth-themed games, soft-colored decorations, shared stories, a charming and delicious buffet, and, of course, all kinds of wonderful gifts. What gifts to give at a baby shower?
A gift is a special gesture and a way to wish the very best for the parents and their unborn child. But not all presents spark the same enthusiasm among expectant parents. As soon as you receive the invitation, it’s a good idea to ask what they’d like or coordinate with other guests to avoid showing up with yet another Sophie the Giraffe for the little darling. ;-) Along with physical gifts, consider intangible baby shower presents—for example, a voucher for babysitting hours—which will surely delight the future parents. And if you enjoy making things yourself, you’ll probably find inspiration in the five ideas below.
