DIY Diaper Cake
Share
It is the phrase you will hear most often when searching for or birth: "Just give , which new parents can use the most!" Okay, we understand. Bodysuits, socks, and bibs will surely be enough at some point. If you don't want to simply give the diapers in a package, you can easily craft a creative diaper cake from them! You can design it entirely according to the recipient's taste, decorate it with small toys or care products, and then give it as a gift – practical and pretty, how nice!
This is what you need for the diaper cake
61 small rubber rings
3 large rubber rings
2 paper towel tubes
3 meters of twine
1 cardboard box with a minimum diameter of 32 cm
1 sheet of craft paper in the color of your choice
61 diapers, for example our LILLYDOO diapers with pretty designs
Scissors
Adhesive tape
Linear
Circle or a very large and a small plate
This is how you craft the diaper cake
1. Start by rolling each diaper individually and secure each roll with a small rubber band.
2. Draw a circle on a cardboard box using a plate or compass, approximately 32 centimeters in diameter. For this, you can, for example, use one of our LILLYDOO diaper boxes. Then cut out the circle.
3. Cut the first kitchen towel into four sections, each two centimeters long, at the end. We also show you exactly how to do this in the video below. Fold the four resulting sides outward and glue the tube in the center onto the cardboard circle. Attach the second tube to the bottom for extra height.
4. Now it's the turn of the diapers: place six rolled-up diapers at the bottom around the cardboard tube and secure them with a large rubber band. Arrange the next 12 diapers around it and tie them with the parcel string. The third row of the lower cake layer is then formed from 18 diapers.
5. Next comes the second layer of the cake: first arrange six diapers around the cardboard tube again, then secure 12 around it.
6. The third cake layer completes the whole: Arrange six diapers around the top part of the cardboard tube.
7. For the cake topper or the "little tower," you can roll a diaper very tightly and insert it into the cardboard tube at the top.
8. Now you can cut the gift ribbon: You will need one piece measuring 115, 75, and 50 centimeters in length, as well as three pieces measuring 35 centimeters in length.
9. Cut each of the remaining three rubber rings once, so that you get three open rubber bands.
10. Tie a bow with each of the three short gift ribbons. Then, tie each layer of the cake with a gift ribbon of the appropriate length and secure the bows with the open rubber bands.
11. Draw a circle on the colored construction paper using a compass or a bowl. Cut out the circle and cut a slit from one point to the center. Then shape a tip of the required size from the cut-out and secure the sides with tape. Finally, place the hat on top of the diaper cake.
The video tutorial for the diaper cake
In the video, Isabelle and Fabienne show you step by step how they crafted our LILLYDOO diaper cake.
Once the diaper cake is assembled, you can decorate it completely according to your wishes. Whether it's a diaper cake for girls or for boys, you can get creative with colors and decorations. Of course, you can also make your diaper cake gender-neutral. For decoration, you could, for example, attach a few packs of , or a high-quality care product like our to the cake, which young parents can always use. Or you could hang a few chocolate or muesli bars on the finished cake – after all, the parents should not be left out, and with a little baby, they will surely need lots of energy. ;)
We wish you lots of fun with crafting and giving!
