Sissi with baby bump: 1st trimester
Share
In Winter 2018, our LILLYDOO midwife Sissi Rasche is expecting her third child! Despite her pregnancy expertise, these nine months with a baby in the belly remain simply magical for Sissi. And the best part: she takes you along on her exciting journey! Every two weeks, she provides an update on her pregnancy in our LILLYDOO magazine and shares her very personal experiences with you. In addition to five consistent questions about the current status, Sissi answers us in each column with a special additional question.
We wish you lots of fun accompanying Sissi with her (growing) baby bump in the coming months!
1. What is your current waist circumference?
I am now at the end of the first trimester with 77 cm.
2. How are you feeling right now?
I always wished for a third child, but when the news finally came, I initially thought, "Oh God." Since I , I immediately thought about how long I would have to pause and what I would do if one of the women I care for was due to give birth during that time. However, these mixed feelings quickly turned into great joy.
3. Was sagt Dir Dein Körper?
When I found out I was pregnant and for a while afterward, I felt completely good. However, with the start of the 9th week of pregnancy, things unfortunately took a rapid turn for the worse: I spent the rest of the first trimester battling . Not every day, but overall I was much weaker, constantly tired, and needed a lot of rest. Since then, I have also become quite sensitive to noise and can no longer tolerate loud music and noise as well.
4. What cravings are you currently experiencing?
In the first three months, I didn't really have any particular cravings. Since I often felt sick, it was difficult to keep anything down at all. Sometimes, drinking a cola helped. That eased the nausea a bit. But often, I had to force myself to eat something small. Things like dry bread, mashed potatoes, or warm porridge worked best. Cold, fresh food, on the other hand, I couldn't stand at all.
5. What was your most beautiful moment?
My most beautiful moment in the first trimester was when we told our children that we are expecting another baby. :) They were immediately very excited and announced that they want to be there at the birth. It was simply wonderful to see their enthusiasm for the upcoming sibling. When I think back to that moment, I still have to smile.
How have the first three months been for you?
After struggling quite a bit with my pregnancy during the first trimester, I realized once again how important it is to allow oneself enough rest and breaks during this time. After all, pregnancy is quite a change for the body! When I was feeling very unwell for a few weeks, it was very helpful that I had confided in my closest friends quite early and received support from them (and naturally from my husband). I also informed my midwife, who has been caring for me during my last two pregnancies, right away, so I knew I was in good hands from the start. For us, it was also the right decision to tell our two children about the pregnancy early on, so they knew why their mom wasn't feeling well. Since they are already five and seven years old, we also had no concerns about explaining the situation to them in case of a miscarriage. With younger children, of course, it would have been different. After the nausea has subsided after three months, I am now looking forward to the coming months!
