What are the positive properties of almond oil for me and/or my baby?
-
Especially mild
Gentle almond oil is extremely skin-friendly and therefore also suitable for sensitive baby skin or children with sensitive skin.
-
Moisturizing
The unsaturated fatty acids in almond oil are very similar to the skin’s own fats. That’s why almond oil is easily absorbed and also supports the skin’s natural protective function. This helps reduce moisture loss and leaves skin feeling well cared for.
-
Beruhigend für die Haut
On irritated skin, almond oil can have a cooling and pain-relieving effect. It can also ease feelings of tightness and skin irritation caused by dryness. That’s why almond oil is especially suitable for soothing irritated baby skin.
-
Minimizes and prevents signs of skin aging
Sweet almond oil penetrates deeply into the skin cells, supplying them directly with its valuable ingredients. The result: cell renewal is stimulated, skin elasticity is improved, and the skin appears noticeably smoother—a real secret weapon against wrinkles. ;)
-
Anti-inflammatory
Sweet almond oil consists of one-third linoleic acid. This unsaturated fatty acid plays an important role in the skin’s resilience. Almond oil therefore helps protect the natural skin barrier and has anti-inflammatory effects. However, be sure not to use almond oil on open wounds.
-
Low comedogenic
Some natural oils are considered comedogenic, meaning they clog pores and can lead to skin blemishes. Almond oil ranks low on the comedogenic scale, so it absorbs into the skin without causing these bothersome side effects. However, if you already have oily skin, you should be cautious: in that case, almond oil may be too rich and could promote impurities.
-
Stärkt das Bindegewebe
Here, almond oil once again scores with its flexible structure and its ability to penetrate deeply into the skin. There, it unfolds its plumping and cell-renewing effects.
What should you pay attention to when buying?
To make sure you’re truly purchasing a high-quality, pure almond oil, look for the following characteristics:
-
Cold-pressed
During cold pressing, the almonds are chopped and then pressed and filtered multiple times. This careful process ensures that the oil’s valuable nutrients are fully preserved. Inexpensive oils are often obtained through refining, which unfortunately causes vitamins and minerals to be lost.
-
Sweet almond oil
Sweet almond oil should not be confused with essential bitter almond oil. The latter is used as a baking flavoring and can be harmful to health if consumed in large quantities due to the cyanide it contains.
-
Natural Origin
Sweet almond oil should not contain any dyes, mineral oils, or other ingredients that are not of natural origin. This helps prevent the oil from being contaminated with unwanted substances that could irritate your or your baby’s skin.
Of course, our meets all these quality standards.
How long is almond oil shelf life?
Plant oils have a limited shelf life. You can recognize fresh almond oil by its pale yellow color, neutral smell, and thin consistency. If it becomes cloudy or smells rancid, you should no longer use it.
Can I also use almond oil for skin care if I have an almond allergy?
Even if it may seem paradoxical, the answer is yes. A food allergy and a contact allergy to almonds are two different types of allergies. While the former is hereditary, a contact allergy develops only over time with repeated exposure to the allergen. It is also extremely rare. So if you and/or your baby have a food allergy to almonds, you can generally still use almond oil safely for skin care.
